Livestock Manager
Vermont Compost Company is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Livestock Manager to oversee the wellbeing of our equine herd and chicken flock. The Livestock Manager will monitor the health and hygiene of our livestock, develop and implement an equine training program (in conjunction with ownership), and oversee / perform all chicken-related tasks. The Livestock Manager’s time is typically split between equine and chicken duties.
The successful candidate will have 2 - 5 years of large draft animal experience (preferably experience with the care and training of donkeys on farm work), the ability to work individually as well as on a team, the ability to operate (or learn to operate) a front end loader, strong time management skills, an interest in compost production, and a sense of humor.
The position is based in Montpelier, VT and work will be performed during regular business hours. The pay range for this position is $20 - $30 per hour (depending on experience) plus a generous benefits package including health and dental insurances; a Simple IRA retirement plan with company match; short and long-term disability insurance; life insurance; an Employee Assistance Program; employee-pricing; and paid time off.
